Joshua - 2009 thus far . . . .

Joshua just turned five. Now, when describing anything that happened over a month ago (prior to April 19, 2009 - his long awaited birthday), Joshua begins by saying, "Remember when I was four . . . " - as if it were eons ago that he was four. It makes be smile. He will be going to kindergarten in the Fall. (Yikes, I'll have two children in elementary school - crazy!) So, kindergarten means shots - three of them to be exact. Joshua tried so hard to be brave. But, there was a definite difference between the bubbly, energectic (after the doctor was done examining him, he stood up and jumped off the table), talkative (I could hardly get a word in) child that entered the office and the completely deflated, teary-eyed child that left. We went straight to the grocery store and bought a yummy chocolate donut with sprinkles. It was a great "pick-me-up." Joshua also played basket ball at the YMCA. Althought, not quite as energetic as his brother, he is a good little player.

For his birthday, Joshua had a Star Wars themed party. Each friend was told to bring their light sabers and come ready to learn more about the ways of the Jedi. Shane set up an awesome obstacle couse in the basement. There were jump-ropes hanging down from the ceiling that the boys had to slash with their light sabers. Our wonder horse was a "speeder" and our sit 'n spin a spaceship. Each padowan took their mission to complete the obstacle course very seriously. Joshua's cousin Regan was the only girl at the party. On her own, she decided that no Star Wars party would be complete without Princess Leia. She obligingly came with her hair done "cinna-bun" style and insisted she have a "blaster" instead of a light saber since that's what Princess Leia had. All the boys were impressed.
