"Boy" Number Five

I often find myself engaged in a conversation concerning the fact that I have four boys (this happens everywhere and anywhere - the grocery store, soccer games, the park, etc.). And generally sometime during the conversation, the statement is made that "one more and you'll have a basketball team." To which I respond that I actually already have a basketball team. My husband, the biggest little boy I know, is the fifth member of the team. He's also the team captain and the MAP (Most Adored Player).

During the summer, Shane went out of town for a week. I had the boys make a welcome home sign. It read: "I'm so Glad when Daddy Comes Home." No statement could be truer. At our home it is the happiest part of each day. Unlike me, who's patience and energy is spent by the end of the day, Shane is a bottomless pit of energy and patience. He really is superman - waking at 5:15 A.M. to teach seminary, he them comes home, leads our family in scripture study, takes Jacob & Joshua to school on the way to work, works like crazy for our family and comes home to four little boys (who have been anxiously awaiting their favorite playmate's return), wrestles, shoots hoops, tickles, tosses them in the air, plays catch, talks to them about their day, and somehow gets them to happily help with setting the table and doing the dishes. After we put the four little monkeys to bed, he helps me put the house back together, works a little more and finally falls exhausted back into bed. Yep, he's amazing.

Oh, and he's a pretty great husband too.
